In the continuity of Empty Room and my thesis we are working since February 2019 on the VR Auditory Space project selected by ArTeC. This project will adapt the CICM HOA library from Max7 to VR in C# and design an immersive 3D interface specifically thinked for the electronic music composer. The proof of concept will be released during fall 2019.
VR Auditory Space is a collaboration between CICM Paris 8 and Spatial Media Ensadlabs. With Eliott Paris, David Fierro, Sofia Kourkoulakou. Chief of project, Christine Webster.
For instance the proof of concept is made of a HOA library for Unity 3D displaying an ambisonic spatializer at order 3 with a binaural decoder, running on Windows 10 for Unity 2017/18/19. This library is set in a VR immersive runtime application, we have specifically developped for real time spatialisation in VR using HTC VIve headset with the following features : track import and listening in VR of quadraphonic, octophonic and semi dome (16 loudpseakers) compositions. Included is a sandbox for freestyle spatialization, (not related to loudspeaker configurations), both features allow dynamic source editing and source trajectories.
